Reconstructed CCTV imagery
O B S E R V E R / D was an interactive installation that explored the proliferation of institutional surveillance and sought to make visible the act of observation throughout a university faculty. Following the dubious 22/07 police shooting of Jean Charles De Menezes in Stockwell Underground station this work was conceived to highlight the subjectivity of surveillance. Moving images and audio recorded throughout this week-long performance were edited real-time and broadcast live in and around the gallery and on the internet. This broadcast was also advertised for access from mobile phone handsets thereby disseminating the recorded material to new locations and observers. This was a collaboration with Venya Krutikov.
